A few years ago, in one of the premier boarding schools in the country where SPACS was serving, we faced a unique situation. The student’s parents were living in a foreign country – the father on a remote island, and the mother in Germany. The child was studying in India, far away from their parents reach. SPACS uses Airtel/Jio as the backend service provider, and due to a major fault at the undersea cable near the island, almost all major service providers lost connectivity. As a result, the SPACS system was unable to connect the student to their parents.
The repair timeline for Airtel was about four days, which was unacceptable for such a critical issue. That’s when the SPACS administration decided to take matters into their own hands. We sent a service person with a phone, having an International SIM card insuring the service provider had active connectivity with the island, all the way from the head office to the school 800 Km away to manually connect the call. It wasn’t an easy task, but it was necessary to bring happiness to the student and their family.
